Spending at U.S. retailers rose sharply in July, the Commerce Department reported Tuesday.
Retail sales were reportedly up .7% from June, while spending at restaurants and bars also increased 1.4% month-to-month.
The upward trend was bolstered by increased consumer demand and rising prices due to inflation.
This marks the fourth consecutive month that retail spending has increased in the United States.
