Almost one month into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine 35% favor military action even if this risks a nuclear war. Notably these are evenly divided between political parties with 35% of Democrats and 36% of Republicans favoring escalation.
Meanwhile 88% of Democrats and 85% of Republicans favor keeping strict economic sanctions on Russia and 81% of Republicans and 75% of Democrats favor keeping large numbers of US military forces in NATO countries near Ukraine.
A partisan gap shows when it comes to receiving refugees with 80% of democrats favoring admitting thousands of Ukrainian refugees in the US while only 57% of Republicans share this desire. According to the survey 42% of Americans believe the US is not providing Ukraine with adequate support.
The partisan divide is marked on the approval of the Biden administration’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with 69% of Democrats strongly approving and 67% of Republicans strongly disapproving.
