Universal Studios announced late Monday that its ad-supported plan for Peacock streaming will increase $1 a month effective next month, while the ad-free tier will go up $2 to $11.99 a month
NBCUniversal”s raising the prices of its Peacock streaming service is the latest sign that entertainment companies are putting a greater emphasis on profitability after years of costly investments.
Since its launching, Peacock has continued to lose money and has been spending more on live sports and original content.
In the first quarter of this year, the service, which has about 22 million subscribers, had a $704 million loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization.
