Elon Musk said he will step down as Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) CEO once he finds a replacement, but will still run some key divisions of the social media platform.
“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams,” Musk tweeted.
Musk made the announcement after more than a day of silence about the outcome of a poll in which 17 million Twitter users had voted, and 57.5% of said he should resign.
His $44 billion takeover of Twitter in October has been erratic and marked by controversy. Some investors have suggested Musk was too distracted by Twitter to to also properly run his electric vehicle automaker Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA).
