Young women between 18 and 30 say they are facing financial anxiety, stress about finding well-paying jobs and concerns about balancing their careers and personal life, according to a survey by Wellesley College.
Economically 61% of young women say they are not doing well and 29% say they are not doing well at all.
The pandemic fundamentally reshaped young women’s future aspirations with financial security and stability being considered to top two priorities in life with 94% saying being financially secure is important and 81% saying it is very important.
Many in this cohort are delaying having children or choosing not to have them due to the difficulty of reaching financial security and the work-life balance necessary to be a good parent.
Respect and a good wage from employers were considered equally very important by 78% of young women.
