AI agent startup Manus raised over $500 million in its initial funding round Thursday after Meta was forced to cancel its acquisition.
Butterfly Effect, Manus’s parent company, announced Thursday that the funding round was led by private equity firm Boyu Capital and venture investor IDG Capital. Existing shareholders Tencent, HSG, and ZhenFund participated in follow-on investments.
The funding win follows Manus’s announcement earlier this month that it had resumed independent operations after splitting from Meta.
Manus was expected to double its valuation to $4 billion in this round, making it the country’s most valuable AI agent manufacturer.
In Meta’s short-lived $2 billion acquisition the company was working to integrate Manus’ team and technology into its system when authorities blocked the deal.
Analysts suggest that Manus might eventually pursue a public listing, although the immediate priority is restructuring its business and ownership to demonstrate profitability and meet Beijing’s regulatory standards.
After disclosing its funding data, Manus chose not to reveal its current valuation.
