Major German automakers BMW and Mercedes each revealed new electric vehicle concepts at the IAA Mobility motor show over the weekend.
Mercedes unveiled the Concept CLA Class at the time, which the automaker claims is capable of reaching 466 miles on a single charge.
Meanwhile, BMW gave a preview of its Vision Neue Klasse, which is set to enter production by 2025.
The announcements mark significant shifts for both companies, who previously seemed to favor hybrid model cars over fully electrical vehicles.
