Top executives from leading global AI companies will attend a summit in New Delhi this week, alongside world leaders, as India aims to attract more investment into the sector.
Throughout the summit, AI will be a major focus across three areas: infrastructure, users, and talent.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X: “The theme of the summit is … welfare for all, happiness for all, reflecting our shared commitment to harnessing Artificial Intelligence for human-centric progress.”
Key attendees include OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai. Dario Amodei, head of Anthropic, and Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, are also scheduled to attend. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, initially expected to join, reportedly withdrew on Saturday due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
Modi is also scheduled to share the stage with French President Emmanuel Macron during his visit to India as part of a broader bilateral trip.
The AI Impact Summit comes amid a reset in India-U.S. relations as both countries work toward a trade agreement.
The country is becoming a hub for AI companies, with Alphabet’s Google, Microsoft, and Amazon already investing a total of $68 billion in AI and cloud infrastructure through 2030.
