After a year-long search, Gap Inc. announced Mattel President and COO Richard Dickson has been chosen as the company’s new CEO.
Dickson, who’s been credited with revitalizing Mattels’ Barbie franchise and growing the brand’s other toy sectors, has served on Gap’s board since November 2022.
Dickson is set to leave his role at Mattel on Aug. 3 and start as Gap’s CEO beginning Aug. 22.
After the news of Dickson’s hiring broke Wednesday, Gap’s stock soared more than 7%.
