Bitcoin has today reached the predicted milestone as investors lean toward a more cryptocurrency-friendly future.

Today, Bitcoin broke $100,000 – reaching an all-time high of $103,619.

The recent nomination of Paul Atkins to run the Securities and Exchange Commission in the upcoming administration has reportedly helped cryptocurrency leap in value overnight.

Atkins, is well known to be pro-crypto; “Paul is a proven leader for common sense regulations. He believes in the promise of robust, innovative capital markets that are responsive to the needs of Investors, & that provide capital to make our Economy the best in the World,” said Trump in a statement. “He also recognizes that digital assets & other innovations are crucial to Making America Greater than Ever Before.”

The total value of the cryptocurrency market has nearly doubled this year, reaching a record high of over $3.8 trillion.

Bitcoin’s value alone has more than doubled so far this year, with 45% of the rise happening after Donald Trump’s election win.
