Bitcoin rose above $85,000 on Monday as the cryptocurrency continued its sharp rally over the past few days.
Bitcoin was traded at $84,256, up about 3.8%, after reaching $85,229 on Monday, its highest level since late January.
The rise comes despite the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act failing its procedural Senate vote last week, falling short of the required 60 votes.
Senate Democrats blocked the Clarity Act’s advancement due to lingering concerns about government ethics provisions and presidential conflicts of interest.
Following the rise, investors are assessing whether the “crypto winter,” a period of depressed digital asset prices that began after bitcoin hit an all-time high of over $126,000 in October 2025, is over.
Although Bitcoin is still below where it was at the start of the year, it has risen more than 7% in the past 5 days and nearly 35% in the last 3 months.
