Today, the FAA has stated that American Airlines has requested a ground stop for all US flights.
“We’re currently experiencing a technical issue with all American Airlines flights,” AA posted on X. “Your safety is our utmost priority, once this is rectified, we’ll have you safely on your way to your destination.”
The airline said, “Our teams are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and we apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.”
In a similar event two years ago, a Southwest Airlines system failure resulted in 16,900 flight cancellations. The company was hit with a $140 million penalty for the travel disruption.
