The young entrepreneur continues to inspire a new generation of industry leaders with her mind-blowing productions—now with unprecedented landscapes.
Arguably the producer of the world’s most innovative catwalks, Jessica Minh Anh has officially partnered with Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani to promote Fashion X Sustainability in the Maldives. Soneva Fushi is located in the midst of the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, while Soneva Jani is set in a 5.6-kilometer lagoon.
This unlikely locations for fashion shows shouldn’t come as a surprise. An advocate for renewable energy, Jessica Minh Anh famously transformed America’s iconic Hoover Dam and Spain’s GemaSOLAR power plant into runways.
“It was a conscious decision for me to pick the Maldives for this special project,” Minh Anh has said. “I want to highlight the importance of sustainability through artistic and cinematic captures that will hopefully be universally embraced. I believe we can achieve great results by stimulating the mindset towards green initiatives in a creative way.”
Using her extraordinary visual concepts, the supermodel-turned-entrepreneur aims to tell a compelling story through Soneva’s sustainability initiatives. Multi-angle cameras will follow Minh Anh as she explores Eco Centro, the hub for Soneva’s “Waste-to-Wealth” initiatives, as well as crystal-clear lagoons, eco-friendly villas, and castaway boat rides to heavenly deserted islands. In line with the green concept, the shoot will feature a combination of haute couture, ready-to-wear, and accessory pieces, and include no leather, fur, or feathers. Eleven fashion and accessory collections are to be flown in from the UK, Italy, UAE, Turkey, Lebanon, Australia, and Vietnam.
“We are really delighted to work with Jessica on this special project,” Soneva CEO, Sonu Shivdasani, said. “She is a global fashion sensation with a meaningful message that resonates with Soneva’s philosophy. Jessica’s vision is in line with our corporate practice of combining innovation, luxury, and sustainability to create unique and memorable experiences.”
On selecting Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani as locations for her shows, Minh Anh has said: “I admire Soneva’s commitment towards decarbonizing, having been carbon neutral since 2012. I’m also amazed by its ‘Women in Soneva’ program, which increases women’s employment rates in the Maldives, and the Soneva Foundation which provides energy to rural areas in Myanmar.”
Fans around the world will get a sneak peek into Jessica Minh Anh’s world as she shares her team’s journey to the Maldives and the entire five-day fashion shoot on her Instagram and Facebook accounts. With past shows held atop the Eiffel Tower and along the Grand Canyon Skywalk, the exclusive shoot combining her extraordinary production skillset and Soneva’s pioneering sustainability initiatives is set to be one of her most impactful productions to date.
