Addressing the devastating effects of climate change requires a collaborative effort across businesses, governments, and society. At COP26, public, social, and private sector leaders will unite to seek solutions, alongside BCG, the exclusive COP26 consultancy partner.

COP26: The Most Critical Climate Change Conference Since the Paris Agreement

For governments and businesses today, there is nothing more urgent than taking climate action. To avoid irreversible damage and meet the Paris Agreement goals, including reaching net zero by 2050, global emissions must be cut in half by 2030.

Countries and companies that firmly embrace these opportunities, among other sustainability and climate innovation initiatives, will play a vital role in saving the planet. Equally crucial, they’ll create business advantage, in such forms as increased market share, new cost efficiencies, boosted valuations, and the ability to attract and retain top talent.

The annual Conference of the Parties (COP) drives ambitious action on these priorities from governments as well as businesses and civil society organizations. COP26, hosted by the United Kingdom in Glasgow in November, is the first climate change conference since Paris 2015 where the world is coming together to assess progress towards limiting global warming to well below 2 degrees—in addition to strengthening climate action across the public and private sector.

Group Up for Climate

There’s one mission we can’t tackle alone, the climate. BCG works shoulder to shoulder with companies and organizations in a wide array of sectors to help them launch sustainable transformations aimed at creating a better future for our planet while also strengthening business performance. Join our mission to #GroupUpForClimate.

Bringing Our Expertise to COP26

In addition to being the exclusive COP26 consultancy partner, we have been working directly alongside the UK’s High-Level Climate Action Champion, Nigel Topping, and supporting the UK Presidency to generate momentum on key campaigns, including the Race to Zero and Race to Resilience. BCG brings a potent set of strengths to the table:

Drawing on these strengths, BCG is uniquely positioned to support the COP26 goals, which include:

  • Securing global net-zero emissions by 2050, including receiving ambitious 2030 nationally determined contributions (NDCs) to emissions reductions from each country
  • Adapting to protect communities and natural habitats, through moves such as protecting and restoring ecosystems as well as investing in resilient infrastructure and agriculture to safeguard homes, livelihoods, and even lives
  • Mobilizing finance, by unleashing at least $100 billion in climate-related funding each year and $3-$5 trillion per year of investment needed in private finance—five to eight times higher than current levels
  • Working together to deliver, by finalizing the Paris Rulebook; managing successful negotiations; and catalyzing collaboration on COP26 goals, particularly on coal, renewables, zero-emission vehicles, and nature
