Weight loss drug prescriptions surge 300% in less than three years

In less than three years, prescriptions of blockbuster weight loss drugs Ozempic and Wegovy surged by 300%.

According to a new analysis, doctors wrote 9 million prescriptions for the popular semaglutide injections during the last three months of 2022.

Ozempic alone reportedly accounted for 65% of the prescriptions in question.

Currently, a month’s supply of Ozempic costs approximately $935 while a month’s supply of Wegovy costs $1,300.
