Trump Media & Technology Group has dismissed its auditor, BF Borgers, following charges of “massive fraud” from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission last last week. In a filing with the SEC on Monday, the company said it had transferred to working with Semple, Marchal & Cooper.
BF Borgers had been the auditor for the media and technology group since 2022. The SEC alleged that the auditor fabricated audit planning meetings, failed to properly maintain and audit documentation and, occasionally, used previous audits for the current audit period. The firm has agreed to pay a $12 million civil penalty and stop working as accountants on SEC filings, the agency said.
Trump Media & Technology Group’s audit committee both recommended and approved the switch to Semple, Marchal & Cooper. In an email statement, a spokesperson said the the group is looking forward to working with the new auditing firm.
