On Monday, social media app TikTok’s parent company ByteDance announced it would be axing its proprietary gaming division, Nuverse.
The operational shift is expected to result in the termination of hundreds of ByteDance employees.
ByteDance will reportedly end development on in-process games while attempting to sell-off its already-released game titles.
“We regularly review our businesses and make adjustments to center on long-term strategic growth areas,” said a ByteDance representative.
