On Thursday, video game developer Epic Games announced it’s laying off 16% of its workforce.
The layoffs will reportedly affect 830 of the Fortnite developer’s employees.
According to Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney, the firings come as part of the company’s attempts to curb its “unrealistic” spending.
“I had long been optimistic that we could power through this transition without layoffs, but in retrospect I see that this was unrealistic,” said Sweeney at the time.
