The U.S. Federal Reserve is reportedly laying off hundreds of its workers in its first extensive layoffs since 2010.
According to a spokesperson, the Fed will lay off 300 workers by the end of the year.
Most of the firings will affect support roles or technology positions that are no longer needed.
The news comes after the Fed recently lowered its own predictions for the U.S. unemployment rate.
