While a series ‘no’ votes seemingly put the United Auto Workers tentative deal with General Motors in jeopardy, a ‘yes’ vote from a major GM plant Wednesday has purportedly put the deal back on course for ratification.
UAW members at GM’s Arlington Assembly plant in Texas reportedly voted in favor of the deal on Wednesday with 60% of production workers and 65% of trade union workers giving approval.
This places the deal’s approval rate at approximately 54% across U.S. plants that have already voted on the pending contract.
However, both the UAW and GM have declined to comment on the ratification results until voting has concluded, which is expected to happen Friday.
