Late Wednesday evening, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers announced that its negotiations with Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists labor union have reached a standstill.
“After meaningful conversations, it is clear that the gap between the AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA is too great, and conversations are no longer moving us in a productive direction,” the AMPTP said in a statement.
According to the AMPTP, SAG-AFTRA’s recent demands included an $800 million per year viewership bonus the Hollywood studios characterized as “an untenable economic burden.”
In response, SAG-AFTRA took to social media to claim the AMPTP has refused to offer a contract taking the labor union’s major demands into account.
