According to new data from GivingTuesday Data Commons, American consumers were less willing to donate money on Giving Tuesday in 2023 than to spend on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
The information revealed only 34 million Americans participated in the donation day, a 10% decline from the previous year.
All in all, Americans reportedly donated $3.1 billion on Giving Tuesday.
“Our goal with GivingTuesday, not just on the day itself but year-round, is to create an ecosystem of giving that helps communities, causes, and organizations across the globe,” said GivingTuesday CEO Asha Curran. “However, we are concerned to see a decline in participation in line with giving trends from the past year.”
