Google has agreed to a $700 million settlement to address antitrust allegations related to its Play app store.
This agreement, which includes changes to Google’s app store practices, will compensate around 102 million U.S. consumers and pay $70 million to participating states.
The settlement follows a federal jury’s decision declaring Google’s app marketplace an illegal monopoly, a verdict currently being challenged by Google.
The deal mandates operational changes in Google Play, including expanded payment options and simplified sideloading processes.
