Toyota Motor Corporation reported that, due to demand, its global production output hit a record 833,104, as global sales rose 2.9% to 796,484. However, the company also reported an uncertain outlook due to a shortage of semiconductors which is compounded by spikes in Covid cases in China.
Domestic production of the vehicles dropped 3.3% to 266,174, while overseas output rose 3.8% to an all time high of 566,930 for the month.
The planned global production volume for January 2023 is expected to be approximately 700,000 units (approx. 200,000 units in Japan and 500,000 units overseas). The production forecast for the fiscal year remains unchanged at approx. 9.2 million.
