Since 2023 seems to be the year that artificial intelligence systems make their breakthrough, we were thinking of having Chat GPT write the letter from the editors. Unfortunately, we could not figure out how it works, so our readers will for the moment have to make do with our merely human musings.
As spring picks up pace, we see the business world still facing the issues of our day – climate change, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and financial instability.
In our pages you will see how Michigan utility DTE Energy is dealing with energy price inflation and transitioning away from coal. You will also see how olive oil giant Felippo Berio is dealing with a historically bad olive harvest as it seeks to bring the good life to the United States. In one way or another, all the companies in these pages are somehow touched by the evolution of what is already shaping up to be an atypical year.
Software developer TD Synnex is already looking to AI as one of its potential growth areas. Energy drink Celsius has been trying to streamline its logistics after the supply chain snarls marking the COVID-19 pandemic – and the inflation in transportation costs which came with them.
Somewhere in the same health and fitness spectrum as Celsius is the European Wax Center, which has shown incredibly solid growth over the last 18 years, as we all try to look our best for our Instagram selfies.
And all-tech, all-the time, hardware manufacturer COHU’s strong recent results show that semi-conductor testing will be a growth market well into the future.
So we invite you to consider the cherry blossoms of Japan in our final spread and remember that all things are cyclical … even in a year like this.
