Rolling Stone magazine co-founder Jann Wenner has been removed from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation’s board, the organization announced Saturday.
Wenner initially helped found the foundation back in 1983.
The move comes following Wenner’s controversial comments surrounding the capabilities of women and people of color in the rock music industry.
“In my interview with The New York Times I made comments that diminished the contributions, genius, and impact of Black and women artists and I apologize wholeheartedly for those remarks,” Wenner said in a statement Saturday night.
