Retailing giant Target is shuttering nine of its stores in major cities across four U.S. states, the company announced Tuesday.
According to Target, the closures come as theft and organized retail crime made operating the stores in question unsustainable.
“We cannot continue operating these stores because theft and organized retail crime are threatening the safety of our team and guests, and contributing to unsustainable business performance,” said a statement from Target.
The stores set to be closed include one in New York’s Harlem neighborhood, two in Seattle, three in Portland and three in the Bay Area.
