Technology giant Microsoft officially eclipsed rival Apple as the most valuable publicly traded tech company during trading Friday.
Microsoft closed on Friday at $388.47 a share, placing the company’s market cap at $2.89 trillion.
Meanwhile, Apple closed at $185.92 a share, or a market cap of $2.87 trillion.
Microsoft’s resurgence comes as the company’s big bets on generative artificial intelligence, including investments in AI juggernaut OpenAI, have continued to pay off.
